When I was younger I always wanted Car toys from the Disney store. It always took me a while to figure out which one was the perfect one. This reminded me of Henry when he was trying to figure out which pet he was going to get. Another connection that I can make to the book is a Text to Text. When I was younger I always used to read books about wanting lots of different clothes, different shoes and reading those books reminded me of Henry when he wanted the pets. Another connection that I can make to the book is a Text to world. I’ve seen many people at many stores that want different shoes and clothes and this reminded me of Henry. A final connection that I can make to the book is a Text to media. I’ve seen many people on the internet wearing different clothes and buying lots of stuff and this reminded me of Henry. There are many connections that I can make to the book. One connection that I can make is a Text to Self connection. I had a hockey tryout and I had a lot of doubt in myself that I couldn’t make it. That feeling reminded me of the book when Humpty Dumpty was scared that he couldn’t climb the wall. Another connection that I can make to the book is a Text to Text connection. Wangari’s Trees of Peace: A True Stroy from Africa

The Book Wangari’s Trees of Peace: A True Story from Africa written by Jeanette Winter and illustrated by Jeanette Winter is a book for 5 – 7 year olds. The book is about a Woman from Kenya named Wangari Maathai. At a young age, she helps her family farm and also collects wood from a forest. When she gets really good marks in school she gets a scholarship to study in the United States. When she returns to her village in Kenya all of the trees have been cut down. She tries to start planting seedlings. She convinces the other people in her village that planting seedlings is good. So she gives one to each person in her village. When she keeps planting the seedlings the government men laugh at her and say “Women can’t do this”. She just ignores the laughing and keeps planting the seedlings. Other women in the village start planting the seedlings too. But the cutting continues, but that didn’t stop wangari from standing tall and confident. I would give this book a 5 out of 5 star rating because it sends out an important message to the world that cutting trees is not acceptable.

There are many connections that I can make between the book and me. One connection that I can make to the book is that Wangari cares about the environment and the animals that live there, this relates to me because I care about the environment as well and I really like Animals. Another connection that I can make is that when I watched a movie called Rio 2 there were people that were cutting trees down, this relates to the book because there were people cutting lots of trees down and didn’t care about the environment and the animals that live there. A final connection that I can make is that when I was watching the news I so a whole bunch of people talking about the fact of how bad deforestation is a bad thing. This relates to the book that we read because the whole book is about cutting trees and how to stop it.

The Fantastic Undersea Life of Jacques Cousteau

The picture book The Fantastic Undersea Life of Jacques Cousteau is illustrated by Dan Yaccarino and authorized by Dan Yaccarino is a book that is written for kids from ages 9 – 12 years old. The Book is about a person named Jacques Cousteau, he was interested of what lives in the ocean, so he got a team of scientists that made diving equipment and waterproof cameras. Together they made films, movie shows, books so that they could share what they learned about the ocean and teach other people, and they also built underwater labs. When ocean pollution started to happen Jacques Cousteau became a guide to teach people not to pollute the ocean. Overall, I would rate this book a 3 out of 5 because for little kids the words in the book were sometimes hard to understand but the Book had a purpose which made it somewhat interesting.

There were a few connections that I can make to this book. First, one connection that I can make is that Jacques and I both love animals and we love protecting the ocean for example in the book Jacques was doing a lot of research on the ocean just like what I do with different Animals. Another connection that I can make to the Book is that I was reading a book about marine wildlife in the Pacific Ocean and this reminded me about the marine wildlife that Jacques was studying. Another connection that I can make to the book is that I was walking around in a mall in Maui I saw some Shirts that had different Marine wildlife on there which reminded me about the book and Jacques studying the different Marine Wildlife there. A final connection that I had was that I was watching a show called “Be the creature” and it was about the different marine Animals, this reminded me about the book.

Bat’s Big Game (Connection)

The Book “Bats Big Game” authorized by Derek Munson is a picture book which is written for kids that are ages 6 – 10 years old. The Book is about a game of soccer that’s going on in a field, there’s a tiny Bat who wants to join the winning side all the time. He learns a lesson after the game to stick with your own team for the entire game.

There are couple connections that I can make from the story “Bat’s Big Game.” One connection is that I’m pretty competitive when it comes to sports just like the little Bat was when he wanted to win the game. Another connection that I can make is that one time when I was really young I was playing a Basketball Game with my Dad, my friend and my friends Dad. Every single time that the other team scored I wanted to switch teams just like the little bat did.

Overall, the message or theme in this book is to not give up on your team.

The Book Sir Cumference + The Dragon of Pi: A Math Adventure strong authorized by Cindy Neuschwander and illustrated by Wayne Geehan is a picture book for people who love math, and for ages 5 – 10 year old kids. The Book is about a type of potion that changes a Sir Cumference into a fire breathing dragon, Radius tries to change him back. Radius goes on a quest through a Castle and figures out a cure to change him back. I would give this book a 2 out of 5 rating because there were a lot of hard words to understand and I don’t think that younger students would like it. Also because the book is about Math a lot of people don’t like math so it wouldn’t be that engaging for them.

Kindness #5

On Feb 21st 2019 my Brother was walking into the house and dropped a few things, so I helped him pick some of his school supplies up from the ground and carried it into the house. The reason why I chose this act of kidness is because if I was struggling to carry some of my School supplies into the house my Brother would definitely help me. So I did him a favour, and it made me feel good inside and it made my brother feel loved and respected.
