Picture Book Blog – One

The Book One written by Kathryn Otoshi and illustrated by Kathryn Otoshi is a book for ages 6 – 9 years old. It is a book that mostly focuses on being positive and being one, the book is about these five colours which are Red, Blue, Purple, Yellow, and Green. Red is a hothead and likes to Boss the colours around, then One came along and he brought all the colours together to become one and to get along with each other. Overall, I would rate this book a 3 out of 5 because there were some good details but I didn’t find it to be that interesting.

Ivan The Remarkable True Story Of the Shopping Mall Gorilla

The Book Ivan the Remarkable True Story of the Shopping Mall Gorilla  is a Picture Book that is for Ages 8 – 10 years old.  The Book is about a troop of Gorillas that were living in the Jungle in central of Africa.  There was a baby and the more the baby grew the more he played and the more he learned from his Mother.  When he was young he rode on his mother’s back listening to the sounds in the jungle and picking up on different things.  One day there were poachers that appeared in the Jungle and stole the baby gorilla and another. After a couple of days the babies were in a black box for endless days waiting for something to happen.  Both the Gorilas travelled from Central Africa to Tacoma, Washington. The People took care of the babies and dressed them in Human Clothes and feed them. There names were Burma and Ivan. One day after the babies arrived Burma died, Ivan was alone.  Ivan grew up Farley fast he was thirteen years old he grew into an adult silverback gorilla. Ivan lived in a cage for 27 years until he was sent to a Zoo. I would rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars because of the story and how interesting it was, but it was a very sad story about Ivan when he was all alone in a cage for 27 years!!  Imagine if that was one of us we would be board and all alone.
